75mm also has an HEAT barrage that is ideal for emplacements and okw truck structures. highly suggest not letting micro gatekeep you on that. if you want it to win without micro thats not gonna happen cause wehr has counter barrage ability. The 75mm shouldnt be losing to other mortar squads cause it has a longer barrage range afaik. also keep in mind that despite the 75mm not having a smoke barrage, usf has the most base units with access to some sort of smoke of any faction. but usf not have something as good as the katy or stuka is part of why they get to have riflemen be as good as they are.
the barrage range is further then its autoattack range and its very accurate.
